Students studying ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) in Brecon Beacons College - part of the NPTC Group of Colleges – talk to Brecon Story about food and recipes important to their cultures. This charming informal mini food festival offers an insight into the importance of cuisine to the communities that make up the cultural identity of Brecon.
Each student brought along a dish or ingredient that is typical to their original home country or culture. The result was a delicious array of food, hugely enjoyed by all after filming.
ESOL tutor Jacqui Griffiths commented:
It is such a joy to work with so many interesting learners from around the world, who have so much to contribute within our community. ESOL learners begin their journey as an individual and soon develop valuable friendship groups.
Jacqui was really delighted that her group of learners used the theme of food to create this film with Brecon Story. It is such a symbol of cultural diversity and yet a shared experience for all. The story features the sharing of home dishes and ingredients, representing something special for each presenter.
